This page describes the Bill Nash Guitars Boat Neck with pics of the back and profile. The "Boat" designation comes from the shape of the neck resembling the hull of a boat. This is fine, as far as it goes, but doesn't really do the neck justice. It's a welcome change from the huge, baseball-bat sized FAT neck and has a very natural feel.
The Bill Nash Guitars Boat neck, is crafted to be very close to necks offered by Fender from 1954 until approximately 1959. The Radius is a standard 10" and a 7/8" depth is maintained the full length of the neck. At the nut it is 1 5/8" wide and has a circumference of 2 3/4". It widens to 2" at the 13th fret where the circumference is 3". (Note that this neck is 1/16" shallower than the FAT neck and 1/8" narrower. A very noticeable and appreciated difference.) It offers excellent hand and wrist support, even for a small hand. As Bill ages and finishes them, they become silky smooth allowing fast movement over the entire neck.
I tried to give an idea of the shape using dotted lines over the pics. I'm not sure I succeeded! Back to INVENTORY
